Sprouts' Scholarship Program

Our Scholarship Program provides year-round scholarships to underprivileged Bay-Area children. Scholarships provide children with the opportunity to learn how to cook using local and seasonal ingredients alongside real chefs. 10% of our class budget is reserved for scholarships. This allocation of revenue enabled us to offer scholarships to an astounding 62% percent of our students from the 2011 Summer Camps. Your support and donations allow us to offer financial aid and develop the breadth of our programs. Here at Sprouts, we truly believe that good food is for everyone.

This summer, our scholarship program is being generously funded by Chipotle. 

To apply:  If you are applying for a scholarship, please make absolutely sure that before filling out the scholarship form, you complete the registration for the class, program, or camp that you would like to attend! Then, fill out the Scholarship Application. 

Chef Dennis Lee of Namu received this letter after our Celebrity Chef Series Class: 
  
Mr. Lee,

My son, Ellis was fortunate enough to receive a partial scholarship to take the Sprouts Cooking Club "Celebrity Chefs" class with you on 12/10/11 at Namu where he learned how to make ramen to name only one thing he learned. 

The partial scholarship Ellis received made it possible for him to learn so much from you about the passion you clearly have for cooking Korean food and for cooking food in general. I understand you donated your time to teach several classes and to teach this class to what appeared to me to be over 20 children present on 12/10/11.

Your generosity of time, labor, space and your desire to teach children the significance of cooking real food made with local, fresh ingredients is absolutely profound, especially to my son Ellis who could not stop talking about all he learned that magical day from you: how to make ramen, how to cut and to peel properly, how to follow instructions, how we can make delicious food from local farms and so many other "how to" things. On a superficial note, he also loved your hat and overall appearance, stating, "He's so cool, mom, he knows everything about cooking and looks cool cooking." Mostly, Ellis learned how food connects us. 

Thank you Mr. Lee for donating your precious time to teach children to cook! Sprouts Cooking Club and all the children and their parents/guardians are extremely fortunate to have had you as a teacher!

I would like to thank you for the scholarship that you gave us. With two children,  I have to consider the cost. My two boys would not be able to attend classes if it wasn't for the scholarships we received. Thank you very much! My boys loved the class! And asked for more! After the first class, Erick, my younger son, talked about sausages nonstop and now "pushes" us to buy the attachment for our food processor. I hope that they will keep attending the classes.
