Intern with Sprouts Cooking Club
as an a Director's Assistant!
Working as a Director’s Assistant is an excellent way
to see first-hand the inner core of a non-profit. This
position involves a medley of general tasks such as
inviting new chefs to work with the program,
soliciting donations, working with accounting,
helping with event and class preparation, and
partnership development. This position involves
working closely with Karen Rogers, the general
director and founder of Sprouts. Possible projects
include organizing and creating accounting
information, helping to organize publicity events and
benefits, Sprouts team-member recruitment, youth
culinary internships, or facilitating classes.
Communication tasks include emailing parents,
sending out announcements to the list-serv, speaking
with chefs on the phone, or organizing logistics for
Sprouts’ events. You will also have the opportunity to
participate in Sprouts events, whether its helping out
with organizing a Sprouts birthday bash or after school
cooking classes - getting lots of hands on cooking
experience! This position will offer the inimitable
experience of networking with local chefs, creating
strong ties with neighborhood parents and children,
increasing your personal culinary skills, and
developing computer and business skills.
