Sprouts Cooking Club held our 5th annual summer camp this past summer! Our 1 week, 9-5 p.m. camps offered hands-on, affordable cooking classes with guest chefs with experience from Pizzaiolo, Chez Panisse, La Mediterranee, Tartine Bakery, and more!
Camps ran weekly, from 9-5 p.m. Depending on the week, camps took place at the Ferry Building or Whole Foods Berkeley. Throughout the week, kids went on culinary excursions to local restaurants, gardens, and farms where they will cooked, hands-on, with real chefs. (See the class schedules!) Camp Fee: $450 per week. 10% percent off a 2nd week, or a sibling. Because of our generous Sponsors, Whole Foods and Straus Creamery, we offered financial scholarships to every session. Children 7-13 were welcome to apply for the series, and teens ages 14-17 were encouraged to apply for our Junior Counselor position. Each class consisted of 10-15 children with a counselor ratio of 3:1. Guest chefs, accompanied by culinary aids from UC Berkeley, led the classes.
